Odds + Strippers Union sittin’ in a tree

It was a open season on riffs in the Bath, Kingston, Ottawa corridor over the last couple of weeks. We went out to Kingston to perform “A Good Weird Story” at the Octave theatre. That day Murray and I did a couple tunes on a someone’s guitar from the station and a recycling tub. Dayna Hawerchuck took some good photos of the show. Strippers Union provided the encore. We then repaired to the Bathouse to begin recording the 2nd Strippers Union CD. During those festivities we broke and headed to Ottawa with horn section in tow. After blasting through a set at Ottawa’s Bluesfest. A couple people took some good photos there too. Our horns were Jim McGrath, Dave Dunlop, and Perry White. Paul Langlois stopped by to help with a half a dozen songs just to cap it all off. We let Rush come on after that and people generally seemed to like them too. The Union recorded 16 tracks and once we put some Simon Kendall on them and record the horns and things they will be ready to bundle up for you. Murray stood in for Si on keys in Ottawa and proved that some guitar players are smart enough to play keyboards too.

YES! We have added guest stars on the bill with us. “Strippers Union” will perform the encore and Rob will appear in our play. Don’t miss it. He is a really good actor. July 6th at the Octave Theatre in Kingston. Show starts at 8:00 pm.

IT’S ACTUALLY HAPPENING: Good Weird Story in Kingston July 6

We’re taking the “Good Weird Story” play on the road for one night only — Tuesday July 6, in Kingston, Ontario.

Since we’re holing up in the Kingston area to prepare for the next Strippers Union recording we thought it might be cool to perform “Good Weird Story” for folks out in Ontario. We’ll be at the Octave Theatre July 6th. Strippers Union will perform the encore because the Odds will be too exhausted from giving everything we have.

If you don’t know what “Good Weird Story” is …it is a comic/tragic/dramatic reading of our strange history with beautiful visuals and performances of our greatest hits and misses. We wrote it and then were bailed out by Bruce McCulloch who actually has experience writing and directing such things. Bruce knows how to whip anything into shape.
Robert Baker of Kingston’s “the Tragically Hip” and “Strippers Union” will be joining us as a “one night only” co-star.

Today it is alright to announce our show at the Distrikt in Regina SK. We have so much fun in Regina as people from that town come ready to rock. They have eaten their dinner, digested appropriately, thought rocking thoughts and then brandished a smile while throwing themselves into the evening full tilt. We love it. Looking forward to it.
